"A powerful, raw and vulnerable read.”—Olivia Munn, actress, The Newsroom

"Unflinchingly candid. Unspeakably sexy. And oh, so curiously entertaining."—Steve Antin, Golden Globe winner, Burlesque

Imagine if Sex and the City's Samantha discovered she was an addict and her drug of choice was MEN. Go on a hilarious, inspiring, and at times, shocking journey as Roxanne conquers her fears, changes her ways, gets closer to healthy relationships and begins loving herself a little more each day.

After years of working as an image-obsessed actress in Hollywood, Roxanne finds herself at rock bottom from a disease that is anything but glamorous.

In her first year of recovery, Roxanne has to take accountability for her past. From tales of being mistaken for a prostitute at the Hotel Bel-Air to botching a threesome attempt with an A-list celebrity, she must face the truth about herself and stop playing the victim.

Roxanne's odyssey of using sex and love—as destructive and beguiling as an alcoholic reaching for a bottle—is a veritable rollercoaster of ups and downs, laughter and tears, and a true testament to facing your absolute truth and conquering your fears.

Secret Life of a Hollywood Sex & Love Addict has the vibrant, relatable vibe of chick lit, the soul-baring honesty of a memoir and the wisdom of a self-help book.

So take a front-row seat into this complex world and the 10 RULES Roxanne learns along the way.

“Actress Brianne Davis takes us behind the glitz and glamour for a brutally candid, no-holds-barred look at Tinseltown’s forever-favorite addiction: sex. You’ll cry... and laugh... as you join her harrowing and hilarious ride to sex-addiction sobriety.” —Spencer Beck, former editor-in-chief of LA Confidential, editor-in-chief Los Angeles and contributing editor at Vanity Fair

“Brianne tells the story of navigating a world where sex and beauty are commodities to be used and abused by those who have the power. Like Sex and the City, this is a tale of finding one’s self and reasserting a true feminist ideal: that your destiny is yours to create.” —Lucy Danziger, New York Times best-selling author of The Nine Rooms of Happiness and former editor-in-chief of SELF

“It takes a lot of courage to do what Brianne is doing in this book. To mirror her life into Roxanne is not only fearless, but wildly entertaining. It’s a world with so much darkness, yet Brianne has not only found the humor but the story to bring it to life because lets face it, we all want to know more.” —Jana Kramer, singer, actress on One Tree Hill, and New York Times best-selling author of The Good Fight

Review: 3/5 Stars

We start off following Roxanne (Roxie) through her ups and downs of recovery from being a love and sex addict. Now while I found the writing hilarious and engaging I can't help but feel a bit disconnected from this novel. While I am not a sex addict, I can relate to the love addiction aspect of the book. Although I enjoyed this novel I did knock off two stars. One because this was not a writing style I am too keen on and secondly because while being in the character's head is fun, I feel like it was a bit all over the place timeline-wise.

This would be a great read for fans of Sex In The City! Roxie is a fun character to follow due to her witty comments. Brianne did a great job of keeping you engaged by all the drama within this book. Definitely a fast-paced book that keeps you wondering how Roxie is going to get past all the turmoil that is her life with her addiction. Will Roxie stay sober? Read to find out!

The Anti-Virginity Pact by Katie Wismer - RockStar Book Blog Tours + Review 4/5 ☆☆☆☆

I am thrilled to be hosting a spot on the THE ANTI-VIRGINITY PACT by Katie Wismer Blog Tour hosted by Rockstar Book Tours. Check out my post and make sure to enter the giveaway!

About The Book:

Title: THE ANTI-VIRGINITY PACT (The Pact #1)

Author: Katie Wismer

Pub. Date: June 11, 2020

Publisher: Ahimsa Press

Formats: Paperback, eBook

Pages: 332

Find it:  GoodreadsAmazon, Kindle, B&N, iBooks, Kobo

Preachers’ daughters aren’t supposed to be atheists. They’re also not supposed to make pacts to lose their virginity by the end of the year, but high school senior Meredith Beaumont is sick of letting other people tell her who to be.

Spending the last four years as Mute Mare, the girl so shy just thinking about boys could trigger panic attacks, Meredith knows exactly what it’s like to be invisible. But when a vindictive mean girl gets her manicured claws on the anti-virginity pact and spreads it around the school—with Mare’s signature at the bottom—Mare’s not so invisible anymore. She just wishes she was.

Now the girls mutter “slut” as they pass her in the hall, and the boys are lined up to help complete her checklist. When she meets a guy who knows nothing of the pact, their budding romance quickly transforms from a way to get her first time over with to a genuine connection. But when the pact threatens to destroy her new relationship and the fragile foundation of her seemingly perfect family, Mare has to decide what’s more important: fixing her reputation and pleasing her parents, or standing up for the person she wants to be.

 Pre-order book 2 now!

Review for Book 1: Meredith is your typical preachers daughter. Or so everyone thought. Right out of the gate we start off following Mare through her journey of self discovery in multiple areas of her life. The pact she makes with her bestie Jo starts a domino affect on everything around her including family, school, and a budding first love. Will she be able to keep it all while still becoming who she has always known she is.

I enjoyed the story line of this novel. While Katie writes well, I do wish there was a little more character building. I dont feel like I was able to get a great visual of what these characters looked like while reading. This is something that is important to me when following a story of any kind. Although I am able to follow a story with minimal world building, when it comes to the characters it lacked a little for me.

With that being said I gave this novel a 4 out of 5 stars. Mare is a relateable character from someone who came from a sheltered life like myself. Her difficulty with processing certain situations resulting in anxiety and experiencing a lot of "firsts" at the end of high school, brings me back to my high school years. There were some curveballs towards the end that I had not seen coming and I'm glad they were included. I look forward to reading the second novel once it is released to see what happens next in these characters journey beginning college.

P.S. There are triggers in this novel.

Pastel Pink by Nikki Minty 4/5 ☆☆☆☆

Pastel Pink Cover Art
Main Character Harlow (Ruby)
For Harlow life is anything but normal. Having died on earth and being reincarnated to another world called Zadok, that's just the beginning of her journey through this very different world with their color system society. She has always been different than the other zeeks, but just how different is Miss Harlow?

Nikki has a very strong world-building skill within this novel. I painted beautiful pictures in my head throughout reading this as a whole. Aside from the vivid writing style, we get to follow more than one point of view! Seeing the story unfold between two best friends while they discover secrets they never knew about.

One thing I was not very fond of through the story was minor details being repeated. This is a personal preference I feel. Throughout the story, we know how Harlow feels about Zadok versus Earth and Jade versus Floss quite often. This is what led me to drop it down to four stars. A very minor detail that some can overlook it just kept standing out to me. I could live for more romance as well. I really look forward to seeing where Harlows relationships go in the second book.

Overall this was an easy fast-paced read. Takes off with a strong beginning, mellows out a tiny bit in the middle, and then ends on what I felt was a curveball. If you love fantasies that deal with the enemy to lover type tropes this would be a good read to pick up. There are some physical action/violent themes in a few parts of the book just as a warning.
